EVERYONE must register in order to be a Southside Soccer Club Outdoor Recreational Referee as we need to continually update our lists from the previous year(s). To referee, you must have played soccer for at least two years, be in the seventh grade, and have a level 8 or level 9 referee license. ll referee’s must have a current 2010 license to referee for Southside’s outdoor rec program.
Referee registrations will be accepted June 15th through August 20th and you will need to complete the online registration form to get added to our e-mail list. All registered referee’s will be required to attend an in house training session August 30st, at 7:00pm at the SSC office. This meeting is mandatory, you will not be scheduled to referee if you do not attend. One makeup meeting will be scheduled at a time and place to be determined.
All referee’s will be required to have at minimum an official referee shirt preferably yellow, black shorts, black socks, whistle and time keeping watch. All referee’s must be available to work Saturday’s in the months of September and October. Referee’s will be scheduled weekly during the season for games by the Southside referee assignor based on experience and availability. No guarantee is given to the amount of games you as a referee will be assigned but when scheduled referee’s will generally work 2 to 3 games in a row.
As most of our referees are also players it is very important that you know your Saturday availability for working league games during the season. You will be required to supply the Referee Assignor your Saturday availability at the mandatory meeting August 31st. A form will be supplied to you in advance of the meeting, you will not be scheduled if this form is not filled out. All referee’s will be required to fill out a time sheet for all games worked weekly and you must have a W-9 form on file with the SSC office in order to work.
