The U11-U14 competitive player will participate in a spring league with their team.  The team will begin practices in January or February.  Spring League play will begin in February and continue through to the end of April.

Competitive Soccer:  U15-U19

Tryouts for the U15-U18 age groups (typically 9th – 12th graders) are held in August with additional tryouts as needed if there are spots to fill on the team.  The teams will usually begin practices in November and may or may not participate in tournaments during or after the season.  The official season begins the middle of January and continues through March.  Teams will individually decide to participate in the President’s Cup or the State Cup during the month of April.  If a team does well in the early rounds of the State Cup, they continue into May for the State Title, and if the team wins that, into June for the regional tournament.

The U15-U19 competitive player will have the opportunity to participate in summer tournaments as they stay in shape in preparation for tryouts on their high school teams.  Each individual team will choose their own tournament schedule and determine their own team practice schedule.  Guest players are encouraged to join the team for summer months.

Player Development Academy

Mission Statement: To create a fun and exciting environment that will motivate players to develop their technical ability and passion for soccer.

To strive to develop our youngest players to ensure a strong foundation for their future in soccer and life.

Philosophy: Our PDA program will focus on player development. we evaluate player development in four categories.

  • Technique (skill)

  • Insight (tactics)

  • Personality

  • Athleticism

We feel technique and athleticism are the most important areas to develop young competitive soccer players. This allows a player to create a strong foundation for the rest of their soccer career.

In order to achieve our goals of overall player development we will measure our success on player and team improvement, not solely on winning. While we desire and strive for successful results we will not do so at the expense of team and player development.

We believe Academy style training is the best way for our U8-U10 players to become successful in soccer. Players will meet two days a week and the PDA staff will run training in a camp style format. This environment creates uniform instruction and great energy.

Staff: The PDA staff is full of soccer energy and knowledge. The Academy is the future of soccer for Southside SC. Some of our top coaches are coaching in our PDA program.
