Our Mission

Mission Statement: Through our love of the game we will help create a quality soccer player and a well rounded individual.

Soccer Beliefs: SSC teams and kids within those teams strive towards playing attractive, attacking and fun soccer. There is an emphasis on teams and individuals to be attacking and creative when in possession of the ball. Therefore, the club focus will be on the player’s mastery of the ball at an early age. Ball familiarity and comfort while on the ball will be achieved through intensive individual foot skills training based on a club wide training curriculum.

Through these training methods it is expected that SSC teams will control games through possession and create many goal scoring opportunities as a result.

Winning:  The club philosophy is to be the best in developing young soccer players understanding and ability to play the game at their best. Coaches will focus on the fundamentals and mastering the ball for ages U-11 thru U-14. Winning is a direct result of the better athlete being the more prepared athlete. SSC teams always play to win, although this age group will focus on development before results.  Positive results will happen with the Southside way of preparation.

The focus for U-15 thru U-19 changes from mastering the ball to tactical awareness and how to play as a team with consistent quality. Success becomes a priority for this age group.

Southside soccer club will strive to be the leader in how we train, educate and represent our players and teams. The club goal is to win in preparation, performance and attitude with respect to the game and all of the components of the game.

Expectations of the team will be set by the teams coaching staff. Each team and individual coaching staff will have their own expectations and short term development plan. Player education will play an important part in every SSC team. Coaching staff will be on hand to instill good behavioral and moral values in every team. Players, parents and coaches will be expected to behave and represent the team and club in a dignified and professional manner. Behaving with class and dignity is extremely important to producing a well rounded soccer player and individual.

Playing Time and Roster Size: Players should expect to earn an average of half a game per game over the course of the season. This in no way is a right but an expected aim of every player on the roster. Coaches are urged to communicate an anticipated lesser amount of time for special games or events. This is especially true for the U-14 and under players and teams.

Roster size can have a direct correlation with playing time. The club is asking coaches to take a minimum roster size of 13 to 14 players and optimum 16 players including 2 goalkeepers. The coach and the team are expected to work together regardless of the roster size to maximize playing time for all the members of the team. The individual coach has the final decision on how many players will be placed on the roster. There are many influences on a team that may require a coach to take 18 players. The club expects the coach and the families to cooperate to make the season as enjoyable as possible for the athletes on the team.

Player Development: The aim of the club is to develop a passion and talent out of the youth that begin playing at the earliest of ages. The club will strive to be of great value and help each player to be the best they can be. We want kids to play at SSC from age 5 through to high school level. We would also be delighted to see SSC kids aspire to play at collegiate level and will support them in fulfilling their ambitions.

Currently we place individuals on teams according to similar skills and athletic ability.

A quality club like ours attracts talent from outside our immediate influence. These individuals will always be given an opportunity to make one of our teams. Players currently playing with the club have an advantage because they are known by the coaching staff and club administrators.

Players can try out at any time through out the year after the official tryout date. Coaches are reminded to speak to their team if they are having a new face appear for a tryout. The club recognizes this can have a positive or negative effect upon a team that is currently working together.

Southside Soccer Club is currently working with the high schools our players will attend. Our aim as a club is to help the individual achieve their goal of making a varsity high school soccer team, a college soccer team, or even a professional soccer team. These goals are attainable with a clear vision, talent and a determined work ethic.

The Development Plan: The goal is to prepare players to play the game with technical and tactical excellence at 11v11. In conjunction with all of the programs under the SSC banner.

I. Ages 4-8 years          Master the ball, dominating 1v1.
