Southside Soccer Club / Tigard Youth Soccer

Welcome Duccio Tagliaferri

In an effort to put our Boys and Girls Classic Soccer programs in an equal position to grow and compete long term, we have decided to divide our Director of Coaching role into two separate positions for the coming 2019-2020 soccer year. Each side of our competitive program will have a director responsible for the growth and development of players and coaches in alignment with our overall club mission

This coming spring, Duccio Tagliaferri will join Southside Soccer as our new Director of Coaching for our girls classic soccer programs. Some of you may recognize Duccio as the head coach of Tigard High School Girls Varsity Soccer, bringing us a strong tie-in for our girls who are growing up in the Tigard school district. He also coaches with the Portland Thorns RTC and Portland Timbers ODP programs. Duccio's experience and level of dedication to girls soccer will elevate our program to new heights.

With this change, our boys classic soccer programs will continue to be led by Fredy Sotelo, our Player Development Academy will still be run by Alec Ingraham, and John Hanna will still lead all of our recreational programs.

Duccio currently coaches for Westside Timbers Soccer Club and will finish his commitment there before officially joining Southside Soccer on May 1st.

More about Duccio:

Duccio Tagliaferri was born in Naples, Italy and when he was 12 years old his family moved to Florence, Italy. He had excelled in soccer all his life and thus, he was picked up by IC Incisa, a semi-professional team just outside of Florence, at the age of 14. He was forced to step away from the game only a couple of years later because of a serious knee injury. He moved to the US in 2010 with his wife, who is a native Oregonian, and his oldest daughter. He has coached every level from kinder rec to high school soccer.

Duccio coaches for the Portland Thorns Regional Training Center, the Portland Timbers ODP and he is the Tigard High School Girls Varsity head coach. Duccio is a USSF and NFHS High School licensed coach. He also holds the United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping Level 1 Diploma. Some of his coaching successes include State Cup final at the 2003 Girls level, League Champions at the 2004 Girls level, Beaverton Cup Champions and Bend Cup Champions.

When he is not coaching he enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters, traveling, cooking and of course, watching soccer.
